A trajectory which should concern us.

Greetings Jim:

As you are aware, I am a Democrat. I have been one since being first registered to vote when I turned 18 in 2001. Unlike many my age (40) and older, I am still a Democrat. Even so, I have been seeing a trajectory of prominent Democrats and likeminded independents, upon being lessened and/or cancelled by many, speak with, and co-opt ideas from within the Republican Party. By that I mean the Republican Party of about 40 years ago, not the Michael Flynn infiltrated usurpers we see today. This concerns me, particularly when fellow Democrats have been more than pleased to enact purity tests and seek quotas for the sake of quota seeking while forgetting to include merit consideration to meet these quotas. Mind you, that sort of issue has rarely occurred, and issues of that problem are usually rectified.

One problem is that plans to redo the order of the world we live in have been, at this point, forgotten. Not by our leaders, yet the population tends to forget what just happened. It was only three years ago that we were amid war. A time when, after some time, we knew who leaders were. Yet many of those leaders who we trusted and still trust to steer us through a pandemic have been summarily dismissed. And some not with intention. Indeed, many of our fellow Americans are forgetting about the pandemic and how we all felt just 3 years ago. I have not, and I presume neither have you. Indeed, there are times that I do miss the routines and information gathering I was doing at that time. And most importantly the leadership and lack thereof that I had seen that year and, in the time, since. Yet now, it is hard to find leadership willing to go against the right-wing operation we are seeing. Much of what is internet media is now right-wing, quite different from the early 2000’s and the Bush 43 years when he anti-war movement and left-wing politics were very prevalent.

Now it is clear that the change has been orchestrated by forces allied with Vladimir Putin and, domestically, Michael Flynn. A look at Jim Stewartson’s Twitter and Sub stack accounts will give you greater details if you are not aware already. Now, what can be done so that the mindset we have been seeing does not permeate even our allies? I must admit, it does keep me up at night racking up the names of liberal allies who have turned. Along with Unipart lacking wanting to seek third way politics. Is there a need, for instance, to reserve all bipartisan rhetoric on the encroaching Sinophobia we have witnessed? I do not think there is a need. Nor do I think a ban on TikTok is needed. I do not use the platform, yet many do.

It is time we remove the Borg mentality we face and start acknowledging important truths. First, China is neither an enemy nor a friend. Russia is the same way, albeit Putin needs to be removed. Blaming everything on the East and outside forces does not solve the many problems we face. We cannot make the USA great, because it never was and never could be. No country in the world has been perfect; one reason people support technology and AI to lead them rather than humans. And we need to have a complete restructuring of the political sphere in America. With people willing to lead and make the decisions that will be best for the world, looking beyond the borders of this country. I trust that you will be able to be one of these leaders. And I am sure that you will stay in this position of leadership and egalitarianism. Even so, we need more, and perhaps they might be younger than we realize.

Another option is to switch to one of the alternative sites such as Mastodon, Tribel, Spoutible, or Post. The downside to doing that for me has been that there are a number of accounts that I have followed here on Twitter for many years and some are nowhere else and not all of them are on any one of the other sites so I keep coming back here to find them and the wisdom I have come to rely on from them. MindWar is where I learn about a lot of trolls and bot accounts. But I spend less and less time here on Twitter than I used to. Before the Melon Man screwed up the API, I had a marvelous 3rd party client (FENIX) that hid the ads and only showed me the people I had decided to follow. But it's now on the dead pile.

Jacob Rees Mogg is an 18th century chinless wonder. He’s trying to pull the UK out of the ECHR, and remove all employment benefits (sick pay, holiday, maternity etc).

Anyway on a lighter note, here he is being gotcha’d by Ali G:
